Around 10h, 7 women, including employees and customers, were taking the elevator from the ground floor upwards. As the elevator reached between the 2nd and 3rd floors, the power suddenly cut off. The group became trapped inside the cabin, unable to open the doors.
In the cramped, oxygen-deprived space, many experienced difficulty breathing and cried out for help. Lacking immediate rescue equipment, they contacted emergency services.
Six rescue workers from Fire Prevention and Fighting Police Team Area 15, located approximately 2 km away, arrived at the scene. The police calmed the victims, encouraging them to remain composed. They used equipment to raise the elevator cabin to the 3rd floor and forced the doors open for the 7 people to exit. While some were still frightened, their health was unaffected.
According to police, if trapped in an elevator, people should remain calm and not panic. They should then press the elevator's function buttons to request help. Those trapped should also try to wedge the doors open slightly to create a gap for oxygen and avoid attempting to escape through the elevator's roof hatch.
