According to the Traffic Police Department (Cuc CSGT, Ministry of Public Security), authorities do not prohibit people from consuming alcohol or beer during Tet. However, driving after consuming alcoholic beverages is dangerous and prohibited.
"Adjusting behavior accordingly does not mean abandoning tradition. Tet will lose its joy if we go out and do not return safely," a representative from the Traffic Police Department explained, emphasizing that enforcement will be carried out with "no restricted areas, no exceptions, and no leniency due to Tet holiday observances."

Additionally, traffic police will focus on violations directly causing accidents, such as: driving under the influence of narcotics, speeding, improper lane usage, turning without signals, and operating overloaded, oversized, or modified vehicles.
Patrols and inspections will be conducted on most roads. Teams, comprising three to five officers, will combine undercover and overt operations, mobile patrols, and fixed checkpoints. Forces will be deployed 24/24h with four shifts daily. Localities will arrange staggered deployments to ensure effective control, avoiding overlaps or unattended areas.
The Traffic Police Department emphasized that camera systems on expressways and local arterial roads will operate continuously 24/24h during Tet, including newly deployed AI camera systems.
According to statistics, in 2025, alcohol-impaired driving violations in Vietnam remained high, with authorities detecting and processing over 630,000 cases. Even during the first days of 2025 (New Year's holiday), traffic police fined nearly 3,000 cases, indicating that despite stricter regulations, the number of violators remains substantial.
Decree 168/2024 stipulates severe penalties for alcohol concentration violations, with fines up to 40 million dong for oto, 10 million dong for moto, and driver's license revocation for up to 24 months. Penalties are based on blood or breath alcohol levels, accompanied by an additional penalty of driver's license point deduction.
