Bodies of two tourists who fell from cruise boat into Tien River found

The bodies of two men, aged 53 and 73, who fell from a cruise boat into the Tien River, have been recovered after two days missing.

On 20/4, authorities in Dong Thap province recovered two bodies from the Tien River. One body was found dozens of meters from the incident scene, while the other victim had drifted nearly 10 km to the area of Kim Son commune.

Two nights prior, Vo Van Tung, 53, residing in Thoi Son ward, Dong Thap, and Trinh Quang Son, 73, from TP HCM, were among about 10 people attending a birthday party. They had consumed alcohol on a cruise boat with under 30 seats, operated by Nguyen Thanh Tan, 23, as it cruised along the Tien River.

Around 22:00, after the party concluded, the boat docked at a pontoon bridge leading to My Tho yacht port. As Mr. Tung and Mr. Son were walking from the pontoon bridge ashore, they unexpectedly fell into the Tien River, which is about 5 m deep.

The remaining individuals on the boat shouted for help and then contacted rescue forces. Rescue teams immediately deployed numerous resources for a search that night. However, due to the darkness, the deep river, and strong currents, the men could not be found.
