Colonel Nguyen Xuan Son, Deputy Political Commissar of Gia Lai Provincial Military Command, announced on 22/4 that authorities confirmed the object emerging from Quy Nhon beach at low tide was a tank wreck.
The tank wreck, missing its turret and with a rusted, corroded, moss-covered hull, lies dozens of meters from the shore. Luong Quoc Cuong, 31, discovered it five days ago while jogging along Xuan Dieu street, which runs parallel to the beach. He later posted images on social media.

According to Son, authorities will immediately place warning signs to ensure the safety of residents and tourists in the beach area at the beginning of Xuan Dieu street (Quy Nhon ward).
The Provincial Military Command will lead the survey, pinpointing the location and establishing a protected zone. They will also inspect and neutralize any explosives before developing a salvage plan. The timeline for this operation is undetermined, as it depends on tidal conditions. The estimated cost is 200-300 million VND.

In 2007, authorities in Binh Dinh province (now part of Gia Lai) salvaged an M41 tank and two cannon barrels near this area. Authorities identified these vehicles as belonging to an armored unit of the 22nd Division of the Army of the Republic of Vietnam, destroyed during their retreat on 31/3/1975 at Quy Nhon military port. Some parts sustained severe damage then and could not be displayed.
