The province of Dong Nai is preparing for a significant celebration as it anticipates its official recognition as a centrally-governed city. As part of these festivities, elaborate fireworks displays are scheduled for the evening of 30/4, commemorating 51 years since national reunification. The National Assembly is expected to approve the resolution establishing Dong Nai city on 23/4.
According to the plan, two high-altitude fireworks displays will take place at 9 PM on 30/4, specifically at Tran Bien and Binh Phuoc. Additionally, ten newly established wards—Long Thanh, Nhon Trach, Trang Bom, Tri An, Xuan Loc, Dau Giay, Tan Phu, Dong Phu, Tan Khai, and Loc Ninh—will host low-altitude fireworks shows. These low-altitude displays will feature 90 arrays and last for 15 minutes, with funding sourced from private contributions.

Beyond the fireworks, various cultural, artistic, and sports programs will be organized across the province to engage residents in the celebration.
The organization of fireworks displays on the 30/4 holiday typically requires specific government approval. Under Decree 137/2020, only Hanoi and TP HCM are permitted to hold such events without prior consent. Other localities, like Dong Nai, must obtain Government approval before proceeding.
The upcoming resolution will formally establish Dong Nai as a city. The province has a natural area of 12,737,18 km2 and a population of approximately 4,49 million people, encompassing 33 wards and 62 communes. The administrative headquarters will remain unchanged, and the organizational structure is expected to be stable. New agencies will be added as required by regulations. The Government proposes to retain the existing staff, civil servants, and public employees. Dong Nai province has already developed a plan for personnel arrangement and assignment to suit the urban governance model in the future.
