The dike project, protecting the section from Canal 3 to Mui Tau junction in Ganh Hao commune, has a total capital of nearly 100 billion dong. The Project Management Board for Agricultural and Rural Development Construction of Bac Lieu province is the investor. Construction will be implemented from 2025 to 2028.

The dike spans over 2,5 km, featuring a reinforced concrete structure designed to reduce waves from a distance. It stands 2,8 m high and wide. Its base is reinforced with gabions to withstand sea wave impacts. Once completed, the structure will block waves, limit erosion, and protect the East Sea dike. It will also facilitate the recovery of mangrove forests and stabilize local livelihoods.
Ca Mau province has a 310 km coastline, with 204 km currently experiencing erosion. Between 2011 and 2025, approximately 6.250 hectares of land and protective forests were lost. Leveraging central government funding, the province has constructed over 110 km of dikes, which has helped regenerate over 1.000 hectares of coastal forests.
Currently, the province is constructing an additional 20 km of dikes, valued at 770 billion dong. An estimated 108 km of the remaining western and eastern coastline requires urgent investment, with a total estimated cost of 9.000 billion dong.
