The Vietnam Road Administration has decided to postpone toll collection for the two component projects of the Can Tho - Ca Mau section of the North-South expressway, following a proposal from the My Thuan Project Management Board.

According to the Vietnam Road Administration, several sections along the route require further completion, including rectifying subsidence at bridge and culvert approaches to ensure smooth traffic flow.

Equipment systems at toll stations for interchanges IC.2, IC.5, and IC.12 also need to be completed for trial operation. Additionally, some interchanges along the route are still under construction.

The Vietnam Road Administration stated that toll collection will commence once contractors complete these items and fully meet regulatory requirements. A specific start date has not been announced.

The Can Tho - Ca Mau expressway is part of the eastern North-South route and comprises two component projects. The Can Tho - Hau Giang section, nearly 38 kilometers long, opened for operation on 22/12/2025. The Hau Giang - Ca Mau section, over 70 kilometers long, opened to traffic in 1/2026.

Previously, the Vietnam Road Administration finalized the toll rates for the Can Tho - Hau Giang and Hau Giang - Ca Mau sections. Vehicles with under 12 seats, trucks under 2 tons, and public buses will pay 900 VND per kilometer. Vehicles with 12 to 30 seats and trucks from 2 to under 4 tons will pay 1,350 VND per kilometer. Vehicles with 31 seats or more and trucks from 4 to under 10 tons will be charged 1,800 VND per kilometer. Trucks from 10 to under 18 tons and containers under 40 feet will incur a fee of 2,250 VND per kilometer. Trucks from 18 tons or more and containers 40 feet or more will pay 3,600 VND per kilometer.

Tolls will be calculated based on the actual distance traveled by vehicles and collected via electronic toll collection (ETC).
