Container truck overturns, three dead

A container truck carrying wood chips swerved into the wrong lane, collided, then overturned, killing two motorcyclists; the truck driver later died on 31/3.

At 11:40 AM on 31/3, Le Chau Duan, 41 years old, was driving a container truck with a Binh Dinh-registered semi-trailer carrying wood chips. He was traveling from Xuan Quang wood chip factory along the Phu Tam - Ky Lo route in Phu Mo commune, moving from west to east.

Upon reaching Phu Tam village, the container truck collided with a motorcycle. The motorcycle was driven by La Lan Cuoi, 56 years old, carrying La Thanh Nong, 69 years old, both residents of Phu Mo commune, who were traveling in the opposite direction.

The powerful impact deformed the motorcycle. The container truck continued for a short distance before overturning onto the road guardrail. Its cabin was torn apart and heavily damaged. Debris was scattered around the scene, and wood chips spilled onto the road.

Witnessing the accident, many local residents shouted warnings to passersby and called for rescue assistance. However, the two motorcyclists died on the spot. La Lan Cuoi was trapped under the front part of the overturned container truck.

The container truck driver sustained severe injuries and was rushed to Phu Yen General Hospital, 69 km from the scene, but he did not survive.

Phu Mo communal police deployed officers to secure the scene. They coordinated with relevant units to use a crane to upright the container truck.

According to authorities, the initial cause of the accident was the container truck driver encroaching on the motorcycle lane.
