Construction began on 31/3 to expand the 3 Thang 2 road, a vital gateway into central Vung Tau. The project, which spans over 10 km, will widen the route from 6 to 8 lanes to manage increasing traffic volume.
The construction unit mobilized excavators and workers to relocate rows of huynh lien trees planted on the concrete auxiliary median, which separates car and motorcycle lanes along Tam Thang ward. This relocation is a key step in facilitating the road's upgrade.
Extending from the Martyrs' Monument roundabout (Le Hong Phong intersection) to the national highway 51B intersection, the project involves dismantling two auxiliary medians, each nearly one meter wide, to expand the road surface. Subsequently, traffic flow will be reorganized, increasing car lanes from 4 to 6. Two separate motorcycle lanes will be arranged, separated by steel or elastic barriers, enhancing safety and efficiency.

A representative from the Phuoc Thang ward investment and construction project management board, the investor, stated that the more than 4,800 huynh lien trees from the median would be relocated. These trees will be replanted to create landscaping along national highway 56 and Mang Ca lake in Long Son commune.
Additionally, the existing lighting system will be replaced with extended-reach lamp posts using energy-saving LED bulbs, which will be remotely controlled and monitored. The project has a total investment exceeding 141,6 billion VND.

Upon completion, the project will meet future traffic demands and enhance connectivity with the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway. This improved infrastructure is expected to promote investment attraction for projects along the route, fostering regional development.
