Y Met Bya and his wife, both 63, residents of Buon Tri hamlet in Buon Don commune, had been fishermen on the Serepok River for many years. Around 6 AM, the couple rowed their boat to an area near the Suspension Bridge tourist site to check their nets.
When their boat was tens of meters from the shore, it encountered a deep, fast-flowing section of water and overturned, throwing both into the river. Residents quickly spotted them and called for help, but the strong current prevented a timely rescue.

Approximately 30 minutes later, local authorities and residents located the bodies of the two victims near the accident site.
A leader from Buon Don commune stated that heavy rain on the evening of 10/6 caused the Serepok River's water level to rise and its current to strengthen. Local authorities are assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
The Serepok River, which flows through the former Buon Don district, is one of the major rivers in the Central Highlands. It is known for its deep sections, rapids, and strong currents, particularly after heavy rainfall.
