Four key roads in Thu Thiem accelerate towards completion

After years of delays, four key roads, spanning nearly 12 kilometers in Thu Thiem with a total investment exceeding VND 12 trillion, are seeing accelerated construction to ensure synchronous connectivity across the entire network.

The project for four main roads in the Thu Thiem New Urban Area, comprising Tran Bach Dang, To Huu, Nguyen Thien Thanh, and Bui Thien Ngo, commenced in April 2013 under a build-transfer (BT) contract. However, it faced years of delays due to site clearance issues.

Construction is now accelerating and is expected to be completed this year. Pictured are the Tran Bach Dang route, 3.4 km long (right), and the To Huu route, 3 km long, currently under construction and connecting at the Luong Dinh Cua - Tran Nao intersection.

Compared to 2018, construction on Tran Bach Dang street has now restarted in sections that were left unfinished and abandoned for many years. The route features a cross-section of 55 meters and six lanes.

The section of Tran Bach Dang near the Luong Dinh Cua intersection, which previously encountered site clearance problems for years, is now seeing accelerated construction to open the entire route to traffic soon.

Nearby, two overpasses that had been abandoned for nearly 10 years are now under construction again. According to the design, the four routes will include 10 bridges, along with a system of intersections, landscaping, and lighting.

Adjacent to Tran Bach Dang street is the construction site for To Huu street. This 3 km route still has nearly one kilometer unfinished after many years. To Huu street winds through the area, connecting with Nguyen Co Thach, Tran Bach Dang, and Mai Chi Tho streets. It also passes through the developing Thu Thiem administrative center.

Following To Huu street is the Bui Thien Ngo route (right corner), which is 2.5 km long, features a cross-section of over 11 meters for two lanes, and traverses the Sala urban area.

According to the master plan, this route encircles the ecological reserve of the Thu Thiem New Urban Area. The section passing through the Sala urban area was largely completed nearly 10 years ago, but currently sees little traffic.

Nguyen Thien Thanh street, 3 km long, features a cross-section of over 28 meters with two lanes, running along the Saigon River. This route is now largely complete.

The completed sections of the roads have been landscaped with trees and equipped with lighting systems, signage, and traffic markings.

The completion of these four main roads, along with other infrastructure projects, is expected to drive development in the Thu Thiem New Urban Area, fostering its emergence as a modern financial, commercial, and service hub for Ho Chi Minh City in the future.
