Furniture store in TP HCM engulfed in flames

A fire originating from a wooden furniture store in Phuoc Long ward (formerly Thu Duc City) spread to low-voltage power lines, causing panic in the residential area on the afternoon of 24/2.

Around 3:30 p.m., smoke and flames erupted from the approximately 100 m2 wooden furniture store on Do Xuan Hop street, over one km from Thu Duc intersection. The store was closed at the time. The fire inside erupted fiercely, spreading to a power pole with low-voltage lines in front and causing multiple explosions.

Nearby residents attempted to extinguish the flames with mini fire extinguishers, but their efforts were unsuccessful. Fearing the fire would spread, many people from adjacent milk tea and bread shops quickly evacuated.

Several fire trucks and over 20 firefighters responded to the scene. Firefighters deployed hoses to extinguish the blaze and prevent its spread. They brought the fire under control after about 30 minutes. No casualties were reported, but significant property was destroyed. The building's corrugated iron roof and steel frame warped and collapsed from the heat. The cause remains under investigation.
