General secretary To Lam meets officials of the presidential office

After being elected president for the 2026-2031 term by the National Assembly, general secretary To Lam met with officials from the presidential office, urging them to be streamlined yet elite, discreet yet thorough.

Former President Luong Cuong, Chief of the Central Party Office Pham Gia Tuc, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan, and Head of the Presidential Office Le Khanh Hai also attended the meeting.

Speaking at the meeting, General Secretary and President To Lam acknowledged the dedicated and efficient work ethic of the officials, civil servants, public employees, and staff of the Presidential Office. Many significant tasks, requiring high standards for progress, quality, confidentiality, and protocol, were completed with great responsibility.

He emphasized that the country is entering a new phase of development, demanding high standards for speed, quality, efficiency, and sustainability. Therefore, the Presidential Office must continue to affirm its role as a reliable advisory and support body.

According to the General Secretary and President, the Office must be a team that is streamlined yet elite, professional, and modern. Each official should enhance their advisory quality and work with responsibility and expertise.

He stated that the Presidential Office cannot tolerate negligence or arbitrary work. All stages, from specialized tasks to administration, protocol, security, archiving, and logistics, must be synchronized and rigorous. He also called for building a cohesive, professional team and accelerating the application of science and technology, digital transformation, and modernizing work methods.

At the meeting, former President Luong Cuong stated that after more than 50 years of service, he always strived to complete his assigned duties. He also thanked the support of leaders, agencies, localities, domestic and international voters, and the officials of the Presidential Office.

He urged the Presidential Office team to continue upholding traditions, maintaining discipline, and improving the quality of advice and service to effectively support the President's activities in the new phase.

Former President Luong Cuong, 69 years old, hails from Phu Tho. He served as a member of the Party Central Committee for three terms (11th to 13th), Secretary of the Party Central Committee for two terms (12th, 13th), a member of the Politburo for the 13th term, and a delegate to the 15th National Assembly.

He joined the army in 1975, serving for nearly 50 years, primarily in political and Party work. He held positions such as Political Commissar of Corps 2, Political Commissar of Military Region 3, Deputy Head, and then Head of the General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army. He was promoted to general in 2019.

In 5/2024, he was assigned as Standing Member of the Secretariat. In 10/2024, he was elected President for the 2021-2026 term by the National Assembly. At the 14th Party Congress in early 2026, he did not participate in the new Central Committee.
