Hanoi gateways congested, Ho Chi Minh City clear on eve of Tet

Roads at Hanoi's gateways were heavily congested with vehicles heading to hometowns, while Ho Chi Minh City's gateways were clear on the afternoon of 13/2 (26th day of the 12th lunar month).

At the same time, the entrance to the Phap Van expressway was congested as vehicles converged simultaneously. In contrast, the lanes entering the city were quite clear.

In Hanoi, from 15h30, streets gradually filled with people returning to their hometowns, marking the start of the 9-day Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday. All roads leading to the capital's gateways experienced congestion, particularly at intersections.

Ring Road 3, an elevated expressway, began to clog in the early afternoon, stretching for many kilometers from the Thang Long Boulevard entrance to Thanh Tri Bridge.

Meanwhile, at Mien Tay Bus Station, thousands waited for their departure times to return home for Tet. The period from the 25th to the 28th day of the 12th lunar month is the peak service time for Tet at this bus station. On average, the station handles about 70,000 passengers daily.

The bus station's entrance and exit experienced localized congestion, requiring station security and self-defense forces to be deployed to maintain order.

On Giai Phong street, the section passing Nuoc Ngam Bus Station saw a large volume of people returning home, causing congestion for about 2 km. Traffic police were stretched thin, regulating traffic flow.

The An Phu intersection currently utilizes two underpasses and an overpass branch, which helps alleviate congestion.
