Ho Chi Minh City to host fireworks at seven locations for National Day 2/9

Ho Chi Minh City will launch fireworks at seven locations for 15 minutes on the evening of 2/9, with three sites featuring a combination of high and low-altitude displays, the largest being at the entrance to the Saigon River Tunnel.

The plan for the fireworks display commemorating the 81st anniversary of National Day (2/9/1945 to 2/9/2026) was issued by the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee (HCMC PC) on 10/8. The display will take place from 9:00 PM to 9:15 PM on 2/9.

The three locations for combined high and low-altitude fireworks are: the entrance to the Saigon River Tunnel, An Khanh Ward; New City Center, Binh Duong Ward; and Tam Thang Tower Square, Vung Tau Ward.

The four low-altitude display points include: Ba Ria Square Park, Ba Ria Ward; Dam Sen Cultural Park, Binh Thoi Ward; Saigon Marina IFC tower, Saigon Ward; and Kim Long Villa Area, near Rach Dia Bridge, Nha Be Commune.

Among the seven locations, the area at the entrance to the Saigon River Tunnel will host the largest display, featuring: 1,000 high-altitude shells, 200 low-altitude shells, 60 G25 racks, and 30 DBG racks.

Funding for the fireworks display comes from socialized sources. Several companies are sponsoring specific locations, including: Becamex, Vung Tau Urban Investment and Development Company Limited, Phu Tho Tourist Service Joint Stock Company, and Sovico Group.

Military, police, health, and traffic forces are tasked with ensuring security, fire prevention, and traffic management in areas with large crowds. From 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM on 2/9, waterway vehicles must temporarily cease operations and anchor around the display areas.

The fireworks program will be broadcast live.

For this year's National Day, public officials and employees will have a five-day continuous holiday, from saturday 29/8 to wednesday 2/9. The working day of monday 31/8 has been swapped with saturday 22/8.
