Vietnam independently builds multi-purpose anti-submarine corvette

Song Thu Corporation, in coordination with the Navy, commenced construction of a new multi-purpose anti-submarine corvette on 10/8, marking it as the largest and most modern warship ever designed and built by Vietnam.

This combat vessel represents Vietnam's complete independence in design, construction, and mastery of most integrated weapon systems. The event signifies a crucial advancement for the domestic military shipbuilding industry in mastering core technology and manufacturing modern technical equipment.

Speaking at the ceremony, Lieutenant General Pham Hoai Nam, Deputy Minister of National Defense, emphasized that building the multi-purpose anti-submarine corvette is a great honor and responsibility for Song Thu Corporation. He highlighted the corporation's 50-year tradition as a military shipyard, which has steadily built a reputation in new construction, technical assurance, and economic development.

Lieutenant General Pham Hoai Nam further instructed relevant units to consider this a key political task, requiring maximum resource focus and close coordination. He stressed that the Navy, as the investor, must effectively oversee the entire construction process, from design and manufacturing to system integration, testing, and acceptance.

The Ministry of National Defense leadership also urged Song Thu Corporation to strictly adhere to technical procedures, ensure absolute safety, and meet deadlines. Additionally, the Military Industry and Telecommunications Group (Viettel) and its research units are tasked with accelerating the manufacturing and supply of synchronized weapon systems for installation on the vessel as planned.
