Hy Vong Fund coordinates blood donation event

The blood donation program, organized in collaboration with FPT Polytechnic College, aims to support emergency and treatment needs at Viet Duc Hospital.

On 26/5, the humanitarian blood donation program "Drops of Gratitude," themed "Green Youth – Connecting Love," took place at FPT Polytechnic College. The event attracted over 1,000 students, staff, and lecturers.

The program was jointly organized by Hy Vong Fund to help alleviate blood shortages for treatment and foster social responsibility and compassion among young people.

"With the belief that one drop of blood given means one life saved, we want to instill this sentiment in young people, so they understand that helping someone is very easy to do, and they can give at any time," shared Ms. Nguyen Thi Hang Ha, Head of the Organizing Committee.

From early morning, long lines of students waited to complete registration procedures, blood pressure checks, and health screenings before entering the donation area. Coordinated by Viet Duc Hospital, the blood collection process was swift, safe, and met all medical standards.

Mr. Ngo Huu Quang, a lecturer at the college, noted that the blood donation activity has been implemented over the past two years as part of the Soft Skills and Self-Development course, teaching students the act of giving. This event provides a concrete opportunity for them to practice it.

"Compared to previous years, this program saw a larger number of registered participants, creating a vibrant atmosphere. This result stems from a strong communication campaign that resonated with the students, transforming the blood donation activity into a cultural festival of compassion," Mr. Quang explained.

Bui Xuan Luong, a student from class DM21310, K21, participated in blood donation at the school for the first time. He registered as soon as he had the opportunity to contribute to the community. "I am happy that every drop of blood I give can help save someone's life. This makes me feel that my youth is more meaningful," Luong shared after completing his donation.

Mr. Vu Chi Thanh, Principal of FPT Polytechnic College, also participated in blood donation alongside students.

Dr. Vu Anh Duc, Head of the Blood Collection Unit at the event, Viet Duc Hospital, stated that Tet and summer are often periods of blood shortages at many hospitals. "Therefore, the blood donated today will help replenish reserves, meeting the demand for emergency and treatment for patients in the coming period," the doctor said.

By the end of the program, the organizing committee had received 657 units of blood.

This is one of the community activities FPT Polytechnic College has maintained for many years to spread the spirit of sharing and social responsibility among students. Currently, the college and its students also collaborate with Hy Vong Fund to raise funds for school and bridge construction projects in disadvantaged regions.
