According to an announcement on the afternoon of 25/3, the 2nd Plenum of the 14th Party Central Committee (held from 23 to 25/3) elected Nghiem Xuan Thanh, Khanh Hoa provincial Party Committee secretary, as an additional member of the 14th Central Inspection Committee for the 2026-2031 term.

Nghiem Xuan Thanh, 57, is from Yen Lac commune, Phu Tho province. He holds a Doctor of Economics degree, a Master of Finance - Currency - Credit, and a Bachelor of Accounting. He is a member of the 13th and 14th Party Central Committees.

Thanh began his career as an officer at the Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade (VietinBank) in Vinh Phuc branch (now Phu Tho), and has spent over 30 years in the banking sector.

He held various positions at VietinBank, including deputy head of office, general director's secretary, head of the Board of Directors' secretariat, head of risk management and problem debt department, and head of problem debt management department.

Thanh served as director of VietinBank's Thanh Xuan and then Dong Da branches for four years before becoming VietinBank's deputy general director in early 2012. Six months later, he moved to become chief of staff at the State Bank of Vietnam, then returned to VietinBank as general director and chairman of the Board of Directors.

In mid-2021, the Politburo rotated Thanh to serve as secretary of the Hau Giang provincial Party Committee (now Can Tho). Three years later, he became secretary of the Khanh Hoa provincial Party Committee.

In 7/2025, Khanh Hoa province merged with Ninh Thuan, and Nghiem Xuan Thanh was appointed by the Politburo as secretary of the new Khanh Hoa province.

At the Party Congress in January, he was re-elected as a member of the 14th Party Central Committee.

The Central Inspection Committee is the Party Central Committee's specialized inspection and supervision agency. It carries out duties and powers as stipulated by the Party Charter, advises and assists the Party Central Committee, Politburo, and Secretariat in directing, guiding, and organizing the implementation of the Party's inspection, supervision, and disciplinary tasks.

The current chairman of the Central Inspection Committee is Tran Sy Thanh, with seven vice chairmen: Tran Tien Hung (standing), Nguyen Hong Linh, Ha Quoc Tri, Doan Anh Dung, Dinh Huu Thanh, Nguyen Minh Quang, and Tran Thi Hien. The committee currently has 14 members.
