Concerned about the fire spreading to nearby residential areas, many surrounding households used domestic water hoses to cool dividing walls, while monitoring the situation to move their assets out if necessary.
According to witnesses, the flames erupted rapidly, engulfing the entire workshop and accompanied by loud explosions. Due to the presence of paint and solvents inside, the fire rose in towering columns.
"There were many explosions with large columns of fire that made onlookers panic and run," said Ms. Hanh, a witness.
Firefighting forces mobilized nearly 10 specialized vehicles and hundreds of officers and soldiers to the scene to extinguish the blaze.
By 10 PM, the fire was largely contained. Initially, no human casualties were reported.
Ho Chi Minh City and its vicinity are experiencing a prolonged heatwave, with temperatures commonly ranging from 35-36 degrees C, and some areas reaching over 37-38 degrees C. Meteorological agencies warn of an increased fire risk during this weather.
