Thousands of households in Nghe An province are still awaiting crucial flood relief funds, 6 to 10 months after devastating storms and floods struck the region in 2025. This delay is significantly hindering their efforts to restore livelihoods and agricultural production.
On 13/4, a leader from the Department of Technical Management and Science and Technology, under the Nghe An Department of Agriculture and Environment, stated that they are expediting communes and wards to finalize dossiers for damage relief approval. The province experienced multiple severe storms, floods, and whirlwinds throughout 2025, with typhoons Wipha, Kajiki, and Bualoi inflicting extensive damage.
Provincial statistics reported 12 fatalities, 31 injuries, 705 collapsed homes, and over 106,000 homes unroofed or damaged. The total economic loss surpassed 8,900 billion VND. Beyond structural damage, tens of thousands of families suffered complete losses of rice paddies, crops, and livestock. Timely financial assistance is crucial for residents to swiftly resume production, yet many households continue to wait.

The Nghe An Department of Agriculture and Environment reported implementing support policies aligned with the Government's Decree 09/2025 and the Provincial People's Council's Resolution 16/2025, aimed at post-disaster agricultural recovery. To date, the department has submitted three rounds of aid for approval, encompassing 94 dossiers from communes and wards, with a total budget exceeding 487 billion VND. It is also preparing dossiers for a 4th round, projected to require over 800 billion VND.
However, delays persist because some localities have not submitted complete dossiers to the Department, hindering the rollout of the 4th aid round. Despite multiple official requests from the Department to finalize dossiers before 30/3, many areas have yet to comply.

According to specialized agencies, the extensive scope of damage, with numerous communes and wards impacted by successive natural disasters, has protracted the compilation, review, and appraisal process. The aid protocol mandates detailed verification of each damage type, from crops and livestock to aquaculture, and some communes and wards lack sufficient personnel for dossier processing.
"Our department has received over 20 comprehensive damage dossiers from various communes and wards, but some localities have yet to finalize theirs," a leader from the Department of Agriculture and Environment stated. "We will continue to press for completion to ensure residents receive their rightful support."
Authorities indicate that financial assistance varies based on damage severity. In some mountainous communes, funds have been disbursed, with each family receiving 2 million VND or more. The 4th aid round, budgeted at over 800 billion VND, is expected to benefit tens of thousands of households.
