A fire erupted around 1:00 h on 25/3 from a house belonging to Do Hoang Khai in Vam Dam hamlet, which operated a shrimp, crab, and water pipe business. The blaze quickly spread to adjacent properties along the Vam Dam river, about 900 m from the market.

The fire, fueled by numerous flammable materials, rose dozens of meters high and was accompanied by several explosions. The homes, mostly temporary structures made of wood and tin roofs, allowed the flames to spread rapidly. Nearby residents attempted to extinguish the fire, but their efforts were unsuccessful.
Local firefighters from the Tan Tien Commune People's Committee, along with residents, subsequently coordinated to control the inferno. Local authorities mobilized about 70 individuals, including local forces and support from two neighboring communes, to assist in battling the blaze. By approximately 3:30 h, the fire was completely extinguished.
