On 1/6, the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), the investor, launched a 180-day accelerated completion campaign for Long Thanh Airport. The goal is to bring the project into operation, with trial runs scheduled in three phases for september, october, and november, before official commissioning.
This initiative comes as the project faces difficulties with human resources, contractor payments, and rising material costs, raising concerns about potential delays. Previously, government leaders requested ministries and sectors to coordinate in resolving obstacles to ensure the airport's timely operation as planned.

Vu Pham Nguyen An, Director of the Long Thanh Airport Project Management Board, stated that the total project output value currently stands at nearly 76%. Runway one and the apron are complete, having previously welcomed a calibration flight that landed safely in december 2025.
Major construction and installation packages have reached over 64% of their contract volume. In the most recent reporting period, construction value increased by 3,76%, and the disbursement rate rose by 1,44% compared to last week.
"Project progress is showing positive changes after many payment-related obstacles were resolved", An said.
According to ACV, many key components have achieved high completion rates. The apron in the terminal area has reached over 88%, the fuel supply system is over 92% complete, and connecting traffic routes are nearly 90% complete.
The passenger terminal – the project's central component – has completed its main structural work and is transitioning to the architectural finishing and equipment installation phase, with about two-thirds of the work completed.
In the coming period, the project management board will add human resources and equipment, increasing the total workforce to over 9,000 people and organizing continuous construction with three shifts and four teams. Immediately, the project focuses on completing the technical system for cable pulling, ensuring the entire facility is powered on before 10/6.
Long Thanh Airport is being built on an area of about 5,000 hectares in Long Thanh Ward, with a total investment of nearly 16 billion USD. Phase 1 is expected to begin operations by the end of 2026, creating momentum for the development of aviation logistics, free trade, finance, hospitality, conferences, and smart cities around the airport area.
