On the evening of 5/5, at the Bach Dang walking street near Dragon Bridge in Da Nang, a young man, estimated to be 20 years old, left his sandals on the sidewalk and jumped into the Han River. Onlookers quickly raised the alarm and threw a lifebuoy into the water, but the individual did not grasp it, repeatedly surfacing and sinking.
Tran Dai Min, 35, a resident of Hoa Xuan ward, was strolling with his wife and child nearby when he immediately jumped into the river. Upon reaching the young man, Min secured a lifebuoy around him, keeping him afloat, and repeatedly questioned him to ascertain his state.

With the high embankment and deep water making an immediate rescue impossible, individuals on shore used ropes to guide and control the lifebuoy, walking along the riverbank. In the water, Min supported the young man, holding onto the buoy and slowly guiding the victim towards Ban Nguyet Bridge, which offered a lower railing for extraction.
The rescue unfolded in darkness and cold water, with the victim progressively weakening. After traversing approximately 200 meters, numerous people collaborated to pull the victim over the 3-meter-high embankment and onto the bank.
Shivering and pale from the cold, the victim remained conscious. Residents kept him warm until authorities transported him to a medical facility. His condition is currently stable.
On the afternoon of 6/5, Tran Dai Min recounted that upon reaching the young man, he was still weakly moving his hands in the water. The victim did not speak but nodded, indicating he still had some strength. "I was quite nervous because I'm not a strong swimmer, but I still decided to go in and save him," Min stated. "If I hadn't, I wouldn't have been able to sleep at home."
