Mai Huong, who sells fresh flowers on Quang Trung road, said that after about 10 minutes of rain, water from various areas flowed into the low-lying sections, causing a stretch of road about one km long to flood, with some areas nearly half a meter deep.
"The water flooded into my house so quickly that I couldn't react in time, and many of my belongings were submerged," Huong said, adding that while previous rains had also caused flooding in her home, it had never been this fast.
The accompanying thunderstorms also knocked down many trees and roadside signs.
