Many roads in Dak Lak flooded after heavy rain

Heavy rain and thunderstorms on 15/5 caused deep flooding and fallen trees on many roads in Ea Kar commune, Dak Lak province.

Around 5 p.m., a thunderstorm lasting about 30 minutes caused severe flooding on many roads, including Quang Trung, Nguyen Tat Thanh, and national highway 26. Many vehicles struggled to move, with motorbikes having to be pushed through the flooded sections.

Mai Huong, who sells fresh flowers on Quang Trung road, said that after about 10 minutes of rain, water from various areas flowed into the low-lying sections, causing a stretch of road about one km long to flood, with some areas nearly half a meter deep.

"The water flooded into my house so quickly that I couldn't react in time, and many of my belongings were submerged," Huong said, adding that while previous rains had also caused flooding in her home, it had never been this fast.

The accompanying thunderstorms also knocked down many trees and roadside signs.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, today, the area from Da Nang City to Lam Dong and the Southern region will experience scattered showers and thunderstorms with rainfall amounts ranging from 10-30 mm, and localized areas receiving over 70 mm.
