Vietnam's National Traffic Safety Committee and local Traffic Safety Boards are set to be dissolved from 1/6, following a decision signed by Prime Minister Le Minh Hung on 15/4. The Ministry of Public Security will assume responsibility for monitoring and summarizing the national traffic safety situation, coordinating with other ministries, agencies, and localities to provide regular reports to the Government and Prime Minister.
The Ministry of Construction will manage the personnel, finances, assets, and equipment of the National Traffic Safety Committee Office. The Ministry of Finance is tasked with guiding the handling of funds and assets to ensure a smooth transition for the new units taking over these responsibilities.

In centrally-governed provinces and cities, provincial People's Committee Chairmen will directly decide and organize the dissolution of local Traffic Safety Boards. Personnel from these offices will be reassigned to appropriate specialized agencies based on their job positions.
This dissolution aims to streamline the administrative apparatus and enhance the direct responsibility of specialized state management agencies in the field of traffic safety.
Established in October 1997, the National Traffic Safety Committee was an inter-agency organization tasked with directing and coordinating efforts to ensure traffic order and safety. The committee's specialized assisting body, the National Traffic Safety Committee Office, operates as a single-tier organization without departmental divisions. Its staff includes: 15 civil servants assigned by the Ministry of Construction, the Standing Agency; two officers seconded from the Ministry of Public Security; and two contract drivers.
