The Traffic Police Department (under the Ministry of Public Security) acknowledges the current shortage of physical driver's licenses due to ongoing procurement procedures.

To facilitate drivers, the department clarifies that passing the driving test is sufficient to operate a vehicle.

Those who have successfully completed the license renewal process online are also permitted to drive.

The Traffic Police Department instructs traffic officers to verify licenses electronically and not demand physical copies.

Drivers need only provide their license information via the VNeID national identification app, their license number (if available), their citizen identification number, or the appointment slip issued by the Traffic Police (for those who have passed the driving test and are undergoing the direct license renewal process).

If traffic officers refuse electronic verification or insist on a physical license, drivers can report this to the Traffic Police Department for assistance.
