Proposal to expand Dau Giay - Long Thanh, Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressways

The Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee has proposed to the Ministry of Construction to expand two vital southern expressways to reduce congestion as traffic volume increases and to connect to Long Thanh Airport.

The Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee conveyed this information in a document sent to the Ministry of Construction on 17/6, providing feedback on the pre-feasibility study report for the project to expand sections of the eastern North - South expressway.

According to the road network master plan, the province has three routes belonging to the eastern North - South expressway: Phan Thiet - Dau Giay (6 lanes), Dau Giay - Long Thanh (10 lanes), and Ben Luc - Long Thanh (8 lanes).

However, the current pre-feasibility study report only proposes expanding the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay route. The Dau Giay - Long Thanh and Ben Luc - Long Thanh routes have not been included in the investment plan. Therefore, the Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee requested the Ministry of Construction to add the expansion of these two routes to ensure network synchronization and meet future traffic demands.

According to the province, the three expressways play a crucial role in connecting the Southeast region with the South Central Coast and the Mekong Delta, while also serving as important transportation arteries for Long Thanh Airport. Among these, the Dau Giay - Long Thanh expressway frequently experiences overload after connecting with the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay route, especially on weekends, holidays, Tet, and at interchanges.

The Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee believes that the synchronous expansion of the three expressways will enhance the efficiency of ongoing transportation infrastructure projects, creating momentum for the development of industry, logistics, services, urban areas, and production zones along the transportation corridor.

The Dau Giay - Long Thanh expressway, 48 km long, and the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway, 58 km long, currently have 4 lanes. The Ben Luc - Long Thanh route is expected to open for traffic along its entire length in September.
