On the afternoon of 19/11, EVN reported that by 10h this morning, water inflow exceeded 11,000 m3/s and continued to rise sharply, reaching 16,120 m3/s by 16h. By 18h, the inflow increased to 16,160 m3/s, necessitating the reservoir to maintain the opening of 12 spillway gates.
The Song Ba Ha reservoir, with a capacity exceeding 350 million m3, is located within the Ba River basin. Downstream communities include Son Hoa, Song Hinh, Phu Hoa districts, and Tuy Hoa city in Phu Yen province.

The operating unit stated that the flood discharge adheres to inter-reservoir operating procedures, remains within technical limits, and is monitored 24/7. Information regarding the discharge has been updated for management agencies and local authorities to warn downstream residents.
According to the Central Hydro-Meteorological Station, upstream water inflow continues to rise, with a forecast of potentially reaching 20,400 m3/s by 19h. The Song Ba Ha Hydropower Joint Stock Company announced it has prepared multiple response plans, strictly implementing directives from the Dak Lak Provincial Steering Committee for Civil Defense - Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue regarding spillway water regulation.
EVN explained that with the reservoir at full capacity and continuous inflow, spillway discharge is mandatory to ensure dam safety, mitigate rapid downstream water accumulation, and limit flooding. The discharge is monitored and pre-notified to local areas.
