Traffic Police Department denies reports of increased drunk driving fines

On 30/1, the Traffic Police Department affirmed that Decree 168/2024 remains in effect, maintaining current drunk driving penalties.

The Traffic Police Department (TPD), under the Ministry of Public Security, reported recent social media posts discussing Decree 168/2024. This decree outlines administrative penalties for road traffic violations, including driver's license point deductions and restoration. The posts incorrectly stated that drunk driving fines for vehicles would see a significant increase, potentially reaching 40 million VND.

A TPD representative, however, affirmed that Decree 168/2024 remains in effect, maintaining the original penalty levels. They clarified that no such increase has occurred, contrary to information shared on some online platforms.
