Truck collides with taxi, passenger killed

A truck failed to slow down while crossing an intersection on the Buon Ma Thuot bypass, colliding with a taxi, killing one passenger and injuring two drivers.

On the morning of 24/4, driver Pham Thuong Tam (35) was driving a truck carrying sand from Ea Ktur to Hoa Phu commune. Upon reaching the intersection with provincial road 2 (Binh An village), the truck unexpectedly collided with the side of a Phuong Dong taxi driven by Tran Dinh Tay (31).

The accident killed Le Van Dung (62, from Thanh Hoa), a passenger in the taxi who was visiting relatives in Dak Lak. The two drivers were injured.

The truck overturned, spilling sand that blocked almost the entire road. The taxi was severely crushed and damaged, and a street light pole was knocked askew. Estimated damages are around 300 million VND.

According to police, the initial cause was that the truck driver failed to reduce speed when crossing the intersection.
