Two months' pension to be paid early before Tet Binh Ngo

Pensions and social insurance benefits for January and February will be paid early before Tet Binh Ngo, providing over 3.4 million beneficiaries with additional funds to stabilize their lives at the start of the new year.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has issued a directive, instructing the Ministry of Finance to oversee Vietnam Social Security (VSS) in grouping two months of pension and social insurance benefit payments into the February disbursement cycle, ensuring timely delivery to eligible beneficiaries.

Over 3.4 million people nationwide currently receive monthly pensions and social insurance benefits. These funds are typically disbursed at the beginning of each month, either through bank transfers or direct collection at designated payment points. For the elderly, lonely, or sick, the postal service arranges home delivery. Payments via individual bank accounts are processed by the 5th of each month, while cash payments at designated points occur from the 2nd to the 10th. Payments at post office transaction points begin on the 11th of the month.

Previously, VSS completed a grouped payment of three months' pensions and social insurance benefits, covering December 2025 to February, for residents in 4 provinces: Dak Lak, Gia Lai, Khanh Hoa, and Lam Dong. These provinces in the South Central Coast region were impacted by severe floods in November. Over 250,500 beneficiaries received a total of 4.963 billion VND.

The Ministry of Finance is also tasked with releasing national reserves to ensure social welfare, particularly in areas affected by natural disasters and floods, preventing hunger among residents during Tet and the lean season. The Ministry of Home Affairs is responsible for fully implementing policies for those who served the nation and social protection beneficiaries. It will also urge the full disbursement of wages, bonuses, social insurance, and unemployment benefits to workers, while proactively preventing labor disputes and strikes during the Tet period.

Tet Binh Ngo will last 9 days, with civil servants and workers returning to work from 23/2.
