Around 1 PM, fishermen in Song Cau ward discovered a black whale stranded on the beach, struggling to survive. More than 10 fishermen called out, helping each other try to push the whale back into the sea three times, but they were unsuccessful. Shortly after, the whale drifted closer to shore and died.

When it washed ashore, the whale had some minor scratches on its body, and its skin was smooth. The weather in the coastal area was sunny, and the sea had moderate waves.
Do Thanh Dung, head of Vinh Hoa neighborhood, stated that local authorities brought the whale ashore and buried it according to local customs.
Whales, also known as "Ca Ong," are revered by coastal residents as a protective deity during turbulent seas and storms. When a whale is old or injured and washes ashore, a phenomenon known as "luy bo" (stranded ashore), fishermen will bury and worship it as a sign of respect and reverence.
