Two-year-old girl dies after being run over by car at gas station

A two-year-old girl died after a seven-seater car collided with her while turning into a gas station's fuel pump area in Bau Bang at midday on 22/4.

Around 10:00, Mr. Phuong Cong Thanh, 48, from Chanh Hiep ward, drove a seven-seater car into the ASD gas station on NC street, Ben Cat ward. While turning into the fuel pump area, the car collided with a two-year-old girl who was on the premises.

Gas station staff and bystanders noticed the incident, alerted the driver to stop, and rushed the victim to emergency care, but the girl succumbed to her injuries.

Security camera footage revealed that at the time of the incident, the girl was lying in the area between the fuel pumps and the station's office, with no adults nearby.

"People only noticed the girl after the car ran over her. She is the daughter of a staff member who works in the gas station's administrative office," a witness stated.

Initially, the driver claimed he did not see the girl. Authorities are currently investigating the incident.
