Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Thi Quyen Thanh is 48 years old and hails from Vinh Long province. She holds a doctor of education management degree, a master of English language teaching degree, and a bachelor of English degree. She served as a National Assembly deputy for the 14th and 15th tenures.
Before assuming the role of vice chairwoman of Vinh Long Provincial People's Committee in February 2020, Nguyen Thi Quyen Thanh dedicated many years to the local education sector. Her career included serving as vice principal of Nguyen Binh Khiem High School for the Gifted, followed by a tenure as principal of Vinh Long High School.
After her time in school administration, she transitioned to management positions within the local education sector. She successively held the roles of head of Vinh Long City Department of Education and Training, then deputy director, and later director of Vinh Long Department of Education and Training.

During National Assembly sessions, Nguyen Thi Quyen Thanh frequently addressed issues pertinent to the education sector. In a June 2025 discussion concerning the draft National Assembly resolution on universal preschool education for children aged 3 to 5, she proposed increasing preferential allowances for educators to 45%. She also recommended that the government review school network planning, promote digital transformation, and establish a shared digital learning resource repository.
The Ministry of Education and Training is a government agency responsible for the state management of various educational levels, including: preschool, general, vocational, higher, and continuing education. It also oversees vocational skill development and the state management of the Vietnamese language and ethnic minority languages.
The current leadership of the Ministry of Education and Training includes acting minister Hoang Minh Son and deputy ministers Pham Ngoc Thuong, Nguyen Van Phuc, Le Quan, and Nguyen Thi Quyen Thanh.
