Around 12:30 PM, smoke and flames erupted from where plastic pallets and foam used for refrigeration were stored in a warehouse spanning approximately 1,000 m2 on Pham Thi Giay street, near the Trinh Thi Mieng - Pham Thi Giay intersection in Dong Thanh commune. At the time, a caretaker inside the warehouse ran out and called for help to extinguish the fire.

Due to the highly flammable goods stored inside, the flames quickly intensified. Seven fire trucks and dozens of firefighters arrived at the scene. Firefighters advanced inside with hoses, but the blaze generated intense heat, making suppression difficult. Other teams of firefighters worked to prevent the fire from spreading to neighboring houses.

Mr. Nhan, a resident living near the scene, said the warehouse regularly imported pallets and foam for processing. "The goods were piled high like mountains, so when the fire erupted, it spread very quickly", Mr. Nhan said.

By 3:30 PM, the fire was still not under control. Authorities cordoned off a 500 m section of the road in front of the warehouse to intensify firefighting efforts.
