"Our members still have their fingers on the trigger, as they remain vigilant against the possibility of the enemy reneging", the Hezbollah armed group in Lebanon stated today, referring to potential retaliation if Israel violates the ceasefire agreement that took effect a day earlier.
Hezbollah, an Iran-backed force, claims to have conducted "2,184 operations targeting Israel and its forces in Lebanon" during the conflict.
Israeli officials have not yet commented on the information.
The 10-day ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel was announced by US President Donald Trump, taking effect from the afternoon of 16/4. However, the Lebanese army later advised residents in the southern region to be cautious when returning home, accusing Israel of violating the ceasefire agreement and continuing attacks.
At the time the agreement took effect, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated it had attacked "over 380 Hezbollah targets in Lebanon" and was on high alert, ready to continue combat operations.
The ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon is considered an important step in US efforts to end the conflict with Iran. Tehran has repeatedly stated that any agreement with Washington must include provisions for halting hostilities in Lebanon.
President Trump expressed hope that the Hezbollah armed group in Lebanon "would behave well and properly" during this period. "If they do, that will be a great moment. No more people dying, peace will finally come", he said.

Hassan Fadlallah, a senior Hezbollah member of parliament, stated that the armed group's compliance with the ceasefire would depend on whether Israel commits to ending all forms of hostility.
Meanwhile, an Israeli security official said the country's army "has no plans to withdraw from southern Lebanon" under any ceasefire agreement.
