On 20/8, Lieutenant Colonel Tran Thanh Nhan, Deputy Head of the Traffic Police Department (CSGT), Dong Thap Provincial Police, announced that the unit recently fined a 42-year-old driver from Dong Thap for operating a car with illegally installed additional front lights.
An AI camera captured images of the violation while the vehicle was traveling on National Highway 50 on the evening of 11/8. In addition to a fine of 1.5 million VND, the driver received a deduction of 2 points from his driver's license and was ordered to remove the lights and all other illegally installed equipment.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Nhan, in July, Dong Thap Provincial Police added 53 AI cameras to monitor, detect, and handle traffic violations, increasing the total number of cameras in the area to 123. Furthermore, the Traffic Police also share data from 224 cameras managed by the province.
The system can detect various offenses such as lane violations, speeding, and failure to obey traffic lights. Lieutenant Colonel Nhan stated that AI cameras can also be programmed to identify additional behaviors like not wearing a seatbelt, installing illegal additional front lights, and not turning on lights when it is dark.
The Traffic Police Department warns that unauthorized modification or installation of additional lights that do not comply with design specifications can cause glare, impair visibility, and increase the risk of accidents.
The practice of modifying lights to exceed permitted power or adding LED bars on vehicle roofs has persisted for many years, especially on large vehicles such as passenger buses, container trucks, and cargo trucks. When these vehicles are on the road, the intense light can temporarily blind or dazzle oncoming drivers, potentially leading to collisions and accidents.
