The Dubai Police, globally recognized for their patrol fleet of supercars and luxury vehicles, have added an unexpected new member: the BYD Denza B8. This plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) from China marks a significant departure from their usual collection of Lamborghinis, Ferraris, and Mansory-tuned Rolls-Royces.
The vehicle is described by authorities as the second generation of the Ghiath intelligent patrol vehicle. "Ghiath", in Arabic, means "savior". This addition aims to integrate advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, to significantly improve emergency response times.

While the specific number of B8s joining the fleet remains unannounced, a memorandum of understanding signed with Al-Futtaim, BYD's exclusive distributor in the UAE, indicates the potential for a substantial acquisition of these patrol vehicles.
The B8 sports the familiar white and green livery of the local police force. It features specialized flashing LED lights, including on the grille and a roof-mounted light bar.
The Denza B8, known as Fangchengbao Bao 8 in the Chinese market, has been available for several years. It utilizes a body-on-frame platform combined with BYD's DMO Super Hybrid powertrain. This system comprises a 2-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder gasoline engine and two electric motors, delivering a combined output of 738 horsepower and 760 Nm of torque.
Despite an exterior design that may not be as eye-catching as other supercars in the fleet, the B8 boasts impressive performance, accelerating from 0-100 km/h in just 4,8 seconds.
The Denza B8 joins an already impressive lineup of vehicles. Below are some of the top models currently in the Dubai police patrol fleet:
