Over 700 businesses in Can Tho owe 3,400 billion VND in taxes

In Can Tho, 722 businesses owe over 3,400 billion VND in taxes, leading authorities to announce travel bans for 411 individuals in the first half of the year due to unfulfilled financial obligations.

According to statistics from the Can Tho Tax Authority on 7/7, among the businesses with significant tax debts in the area is Nam Song Hau Petroleum Trading Investment Joint Stock Company (Chau Thanh commune), along with its branches in Phuoc Thoi ward and Dai Ngai, An Lac Thon communes. The total tax debt for this company is nearly 1,600 billion VND.

Additionally, the list of tax debtors includes Ngan Thuan Construction Co. Ltd. (Binh Thuy ward) with 679 billion VND; Tay Nam S.W.P Petroleum Co. Ltd. - Can Tho branch with 195 billion VND; and Thien Loc Co. Ltd. (a real estate business) in Hung Phu ward, owing 115 billion VND.

Tay Nam Agricultural and Seafood Co. Ltd. also owes 51 billion VND in taxes, and Nam Song Hau Soc Trang Petroleum Trading Co. Ltd. owes 76 billion VND.

The Can Tho Tax Authority reported that the total number of businesses still owing taxes in the area is 722 entities, with cumulative debt exceeding 3,400 billion VND.

Also, according to the tax authority, in the first half of this year, they issued travel ban notices for 411 individuals, who are legal representatives of businesses that have not fulfilled their tax obligations, amounting to 1,770 billion VND in outstanding taxes.

Regulations stipulate that individuals or business household owners owing 50 million VND or more, or business representatives owing 500 million VND or more, with debts overdue by over 120 days, will be subject to a temporary travel ban. The tax authority sends a 30-day advance notice to taxpayers under warning. If obligations remain unfulfilled after this period, the tax authority transfers the case to the immigration management unit to enforce the ban.

In the first six months of this year, the Can Tho tax sector collected over 1,600 billion VND in overdue taxes, reducing the total tax debt by over 30% compared to the end of 2025. Additionally, the unit wrote off debts for 414 entities and businesses, totaling over 1,700 billion VND.

Can Tho currently has over 21,000 active businesses. Last year, the total budget revenue in the area reached nearly 26,000 billion VND.
