For the past two years, Hanoi Pedagogical University 2 has processed and issued degrees monthly, serving between 16 and over 2,300 students each month, excluding extended holidays like Tet Lunar New Year.
This commitment extends to even a minimal number of candidates. "If only one to two students require it, the university still organizes the process," stated Associate Professor, Doctor Nguyen Van Thu, Head of the Department of Training at Hanoi Pedagogical University 2.
This approach is rare in higher education. Most universities typically conduct one to four graduation review periods annually, with two periods being the most common.

The primary motivation behind this monthly system is the diverse recruitment schedules across various institutions. Mr. Thu explained that in the education sector, provinces, cities, and schools have their own recruitment timelines based on specific needs, rather than fixed schedules.
This timely degree issuance offers significant advantages to students. "Receiving their degrees promptly allows students to submit job applications immediately," Mr. Thu noted. Additionally, students aspiring to pursue master's or doctoral degrees can apply for admission without delay.
Nguyen Phuc Son, an English Language Pedagogy teacher in Tay Ninh, exemplifies the benefits of this system. Son, who graduated with excellent honors last year, applied for graduation review in September and received a temporary graduation certificate in October. A month later, he received his degree.
This flexible approach significantly reduces waiting times for graduates. If Son had waited for the traditional graduation ceremony, he might have had to wait an additional seven months, until June of the following year. The university's flexible degree processing enabled him to apply for jobs efficiently.
While beneficial for students, this monthly system presents increased demands on the faculty. According to Mr. Thu, this method adds to the workload for teachers. Every month, the university must establish a graduation review board to verify conditions and assess output standards.
Maintaining accurate and timely data is crucial for the process. "All data must be continuously updated and absolutely accurate to meet the monthly graduation review schedule," Mr. Thu emphasized.
The university's motivation stems from positive feedback from parents and students. Mr. Thu recounted instances of parents visiting the university to express gratitude, with one even embracing the rector on campus. He also shared a touching story of a mother with a serious illness who longed to see her child's university degree before passing away.
"Receiving their degrees promptly helps students achieve their aspirations, which deeply moves parents," he shared.
Hanoi Pedagogical University 2 is a leading teacher training institution in Vietnam. In addition to education programs, the university offers various fields such as languages, engineering, and information technology, with approximately 1,000 to 3,000 students graduating each year.
