No diet or gym needed: Japanese doctor loses 25 kg with green tea

A method combining green tea and coffee helped a Japanese endocrinologist lose 25 kg in just over 10 months; however, experts advise against this approach for some individuals.

In 2015, recognizing the significant challenge patients faced with weight loss, Doctor Kudo Takafumi, a diabetes specialist in Japan, developed the "coffee and green tea weight loss method" using common daily ingredients.

After nearly one year of self-experimentation, his weight dropped from 92 kg to 67 kg in just over 10 months, with no weight regain, as reported by China Press.

Not only Doctor Kudo, but patients who adopted this method also lost an average of 6,2 kg per month. Many even experienced a significant reduction in belly fat without needing to adjust their diet or exercise routines, solely relying on this beverage.

According to Hong Kong professional nutritionist Zhang Zhan Bang, the key to this method lies in leveraging the combined effects of caffeine, catechins in green tea, and chlorogenic acid found in coffee.

Chlorogenic acid in coffee activates enzymes in the body, promoting fat burning. Catechins in green tea support lipid metabolism, accelerating the rate at which excess fat is consumed. Both components also act as diuretics and detoxifiers.

The synergistic effect of these active compounds maximizes fat burning efficiency while effectively controlling post-meal blood sugar levels, making it an ideal choice for individuals seeking weight loss.

To achieve optimal results and prevent a reduction in effectiveness, individuals must use unsweetened green tea and pure black coffee, strictly avoiding the addition of sugar, milk, or fatty cream powder. Bottled unsweetened green tea or tea bags can be used as alternatives.

Ingredients: 150 ml green tea, 150 ml coffee.

Ratio: Green tea and coffee are mixed in a 1:1 ratio.

How to prepare: Stir the two types together to drink, or consume them separately.

When to drink: Consume one glass (approximately 250-300 ml) before each meal.

Maintaining a daily morning routine of weighing yourself will help you closely monitor body changes. This entire regimen helps control appetite, accelerates fat metabolism, and makes the weight loss journey easier.

This method is particularly effective for three groups of people:

Busy individuals, frequent diners out, or office workers: This method does not require strict exercise or dieting; simply drinking it before meals is sufficient. Therefore, it offers a convenient solution for those who lack time to manage their diet or visit a gym.

Individuals with a large waistline or abdominal obesity: The combination of catechins (green tea) and chlorogenic acid (coffee) strongly promotes fat burning, showing particularly noticeable effects on belly fat.

People who experience stress leading to overeating: The theanine component in green tea helps relieve stress, controls appetite, and effectively limits overeating caused by emotional fluctuations.

Conversely, for individuals with poor spleen and stomach function, pregnant women, patients with diabetes, or high blood pressure, this method may have adverse effects and harm their health.

Individuals with damp-heat in the spleen and stomach, or those prone to excess stomach acid: Drinking coffee can easily cause gastroesophageal reflux disease. People with anemia or caffeine sensitivity also need to exercise extreme caution.

Diabetics and high blood pressure patients: Individuals with diabetes should switch to decaffeinated coffee. Meanwhile, those with high blood pressure should avoid drinking coffee immediately after waking up in the morning to prevent sudden spikes in blood pressure.

Pregnant women: Do not consume more than two glasses of this green tea and coffee mixture daily. Exceeding this dosage can increase the risk of miscarriage, premature birth, or result in low birth weight in infants.
