Princess Kate, 44, has revealed significant lifestyle changes following her cancer diagnosis, including a conscious reduction in alcohol consumption. During a visit to businesses along the River Thames in London on 12/3, the future queen, who underwent chemotherapy in 2024, declined an offer of beer and cider at Southwark Brewery. "Since my diagnosis, I don't consume much alcohol anymore", she shared, explaining she now needs to be "much more conscious and cautious" in her daily life.
This is not the first time Kate has spoken about her health journey. In January, during a visit to Charing Cross Hospital in London, she engaged with medical staff and patients receiving chemotherapy. When a volunteer mentioned the many hours patients spend in hospital for infusions, Kate quietly responded, "I understand." Turning to hold her husband's hand, she added, "We understand that." In another conversation, she confided that chemotherapy can be a "haunting experience", emphasizing that for patients facing its harshness, the caring attitude and empathy of medical staff are the most valuable "medicine".

Princess Kate confirmed her cancer diagnosis in 3/2024, a condition found after abdominal surgery. Throughout that year, she stepped back from most royal duties to focus on recovery, officially completing chemotherapy by 9/2024. In early 2025, following a surprise visit to Royal Marsden Hospital, Kate expressed relief that her illness had entered remission, confirming she had received treatment there during her battle.
The Princess subsequently returned to a more regular work schedule, openly discussing the challenges of the post-cancer treatment phase. During a visit to Colchester Hospital in 7/2025, she shared: "You always have to try to be brave and maintain a calm, patient attitude throughout treatment. When treatment ends, there's often a feeling that you're fine and can immediately return to normal life, but in reality, the phase after that is truly difficult." For her, the journey to find a "new normal" has been arduous, akin to a rollercoaster ride with unexpected ups and downs.
On 4/2, for World Cancer Day, Princess Kate released a video message to express empathy and stand in solidarity with those affected by cancer. She stated that the journey of fighting cancer is never a straight line, but rather intertwined with moments of fear and exhaustion, alongside moments of finding strength, compassion, and deep spiritual connection. "Today is a reminder of the importance of care, understanding, and hope. Please believe that you are not alone", the Princess said.
Kate is the second member of the British Royal Family to be announced with cancer. Buckingham Palace previously stated that King Charles was diagnosed with the disease while undergoing treatment for an enlarged prostate in 1/2024.
