US recalls over 700,000 woks due to burn risk for users

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has ordered E Mishan & Sons to recall 740,000 woks due to a design flaw posing a burn hazard to cooks.

In an announcement issued on 2/4, the CPSC identified a technical defect in the screw connecting the handle of the Granitestone Diamond Pro Blue stainless steel wok model. When the device is exposed to high temperatures, the metal cap on the screw can unexpectedly detach and eject forcefully. The manufacturer has received 98 reports of this issue, including one customer who suffered bruises and burns from a flying component.

E Mishan & Sons distributed this line of kitchenware as a set of two woks, measuring 25,4 cm and 29,2 cm, with barcode 0-80313-08131-6, priced at 40 USD (approximately one million dong). Major US retailers such as Costco, along with e-commerce platforms Walmart and Amazon, sold these products from 8/2021 to 2/2026.

US authorities advise consumers to immediately stop using the product. Buyers should contact E Mishan & Sons directly for instructions on how to process a refund.
