According to the police, investigations revealed that most of the individuals admitted to interacting with and commenting on distorted and false information. They acknowledged not fully understanding the true nature, schemes, and tactics behind the content, thereby inadvertently contributing to the spread of "bad and toxic" information.
The individuals involved removed the violating comments and content, left "reactionary" groups and online pages, and signed commitments to prevent future offenses.
Ha Tinh police are continuing to verify and consolidate files for 50 other individuals.
Previously, on 31/12/2025, the Hanoi People's Court tried in absentia and sentenced two defendants, Nguyen Van Dai (56 years old, from Hung Yen province) and Le Trung Khoa (54 years old, from Thanh Hoa province), each to 17 years in prison. They were convicted of "making, possessing, spreading, or propagating information and documents to oppose the Socialist Republic of Vietnam State," under clause 2, Article 117 of the Penal Code.
In the same case as Le Trung Khoa, Do Van Nga (47 years old, from Gia Lai province) received a 7-year prison sentence; Huynh Bao Duc (41 years old, from Ho Chi Minh City) received 6 years 6 months in prison; and Pham Quang Thien (47 years old) received 5 years 6 months in prison for the same offense.
