Japandi design offers a refreshing aesthetic for hot seasons

Toshiba suggests incorporating bright colors, natural light, and minimalist home appliances to alleviate the stuffy feeling of summer.

Prolonged heatwaves extend the need for cooling beyond merely lowering room temperatures. According to a Toshiba Vietnam representative, users are now increasingly interested in overall comfort, encompassing interior colors, lighting, and daily living experiences.

In this context, the Japandi style emerges as a suitable choice for hot climates due to its neutral color palette, minimalist layout, and ability to create visual relaxation. This style combines Japanese minimalism with Scandinavian elegance, prioritizing bright colors, natural materials, and minimizing cluttered details.

A study published in the journal Building and Environment indicates that light with high color temperature and bright tones improves thermal comfort in warmer environments.

Meanwhile, research by Bilkent University on thermal perception in interiors shows that light colors, such as white, reduce the sensation of heat more effectively than warm and dark tones.

According to Toshiba, this also explains why many home appliances are developed with a minimalist approach, using neutral colors to harmonize with Japandi spaces. Instead of standing out as separate blocks of equipment, products are designed to integrate seamlessly into the overall interior.

In a Japandi space, home appliances not only fulfill their functions but also contribute to the home's atmosphere. Flat surfaces, white or light gray colors, and compact designs make spaces appear more open, particularly during sunny seasons when a stuffy feeling can easily arise.

For air conditioners, Toshiba states that Daiseikai models, such as Toshiba RAS-H13T4KCVRG-V or Toshiba RAS-H18T4KCVRG-V, are developed in a minimalist style with bright white tones, suiting modern apartment trends. The design aims to blend into the overall living space, reducing the visually heavy impression often associated with large refrigeration appliances of the past.

Beyond aesthetics, Toshiba notes that users now prioritize stable, long-lasting cooling comfort over intense, short-term cooling. Inverter technology helps units operate steadily, limiting continuous on-off cycles, thereby maintaining a stable temperature during hot days. Concurrently, the quick cooling mode rapidly lowers room temperature when users return home.

Additionally, the product line integrates ultra pure technology for sterilization, a self-cleaning mode, air swing blades that create strong yet gentle airflow, and flexible power supply capabilities from both indoor and outdoor units.

The kitchen area also receives significant attention during summer. According to Toshiba, light-toned appliances, such as refrigerators with flat glass fronts or neutral colors, make the kitchen feel more spacious and visually light.

The Japandi ethos emphasizes neatness and uniformity. Therefore, details like hidden handles, flat designs, or minimalist colors help appliances blend with the interior, creating a more seamless spatial feel.

Concurrently, the demand for quick cooling during hot seasons also makes cold water and ice-making appliances more popular. Toshiba introduces the TWP-IW2469SVN water purifier with ice maker, offering quick cold water and automatic ice production, meeting daily needs.

The appliance integrates a multi-step filtration system and UV LED technology to maintain water quality during storage. According to Toshiba, having cold water and ice cubes readily available reduces preparation tasks during peak hot days, while enhancing daily living convenience.

In the garment care space, Toshiba developed the Japandi T37 product set, designed to synchronize colors and design with modern interior styles. The washer-dryer processes clothes on the same day, reducing the need to hang many items indoors – a factor that can easily create a cramped and stuffy feeling in hot weather.

Great steam technology uses high-temperature steam to deodorize and care for fabrics, while aroma+ mode helps fragrance linger longer on summer clothes.

Additionally, heat pump technology supports drying at appropriate temperatures, reducing the risk of shrinkage or fabric damage, while the hygiene care feature helps eliminate bacteria, increasing clothes' cleanliness after each wash and dry cycle.

According to a Toshiba representative, the current trend extends beyond using individual appliances to fostering synergy between design and living experience. When appliances collectively feature a bright color palette, minimalist designs, and support various hot season needs, living spaces achieve greater harmony both visually and in terms of user experience.

The combination of Japandi style and a system of light-toned home appliances is therefore considered a solution to make living spaces feel lighter and cooler during sunny seasons. Not only do they create a "visually cool" feeling, but the appliances also help maintain a pleasant living experience through stable temperatures, quick cold drinks, dry clothes, and a tidier space every day.
