Diagnosed with leukemia at two years old, Nguyen Thanh Tung, 5, from Hue City, has spent most of his life in the hospital. His Co Tu family faces profound hardship; his mother, Tham, left their fields to stay by his side, while his father lost the ability to work after an accident.
Hundreds of kilometers away, Nguyen Van Khuong, 27, from Phu Tho, is also on the brink of financial ruin. He is the sole provider for a four-generation family, caring for sick elders and a young child undergoing treatment for metastatic bone cancer. "'This medical expense support is a lifeline, preserving the last hope for my child,' Khuong said with emotion."

Tung and Khuong's son are among thousands of children receiving a chance at life from the "Sun of Hope" program, implemented by Hope Fund. To strengthen this journey, Can Gio Urban Tourism Joint Stock Company, part of Vingroup Group, through Thien Tam Fund, has committed an additional 5 billion VND in 2026.
This funding extends beyond child cancer patients, easing the financial burden for those requiring high-tech, costly medical interventions such as: organ and stem cell transplants, in addition to chemotherapy and radiation therapy.
In Vietnam, medicine has made significant strides in increasing survival rates for child cancer. However, the most significant barrier for poor patient families remains the multi-year duration and cost of treatment. Thien Tam Fund's focus on supporting organ and stem cell transplants directly addresses this immense financial challenge.
This marks the sixth consecutive year Thien Tam Fund has accompanied disadvantaged child patients. Over the past four years, the Fund's total contributions, exceeding 18 billion VND, have enabled over 1,100 children to undergo surgery and medical interventions at leading hospitals, including: National Children's Hospital, K Hospital, National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, Hue Central Hospital, and Children's Hospital 2.
Officially launched in March 2021, "Sun of Hope" is a collaborative initiative between Hope Fund and the Ong Mat troi program. To date, over 2,800 child patients have received treatment cost support. In 2026, the program aims to continue being a financial and emotional pillar for 1,000 children with critical illnesses.
Every community contribution offers another ray of hope to the future generation. Readers can support the program here:
