Around 11:30, a group of tourists rented a small motorboat to travel about 5 km along the river to the Me Dong Hai area (Hung Thien Pagoda, formerly Bac Lieu) for sightseeing and offering incense. The boat struck a submerged tree stump and capsized, sending all passengers into the river.

Locals and the boat owner quickly righted the vessel and brought the tourists ashore. All passengers wore life jackets, so no injuries or fatalities were reported.
A representative from Hung Hoi Commune authorities stated that the ferry terminal operates spontaneously but undergoes regular safety checks. During holidays, the Me Dong Hai spiritual tourism site welcomes hundreds of visitors daily.

Local authorities are planning to expand the road and reinforce riverbanks, allowing residents and tourists to access the area by car. Once completed, boat transportation is expected to cease.
