Ha Noi and the Northwest region experienced showers this afternoon, with some areas seeing thunderstorms and lightning. Temperatures generally ranged from 29-32 degrees Celsius.
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, around noon and afternoon tomorrow (3/5), the cold front will begin to affect the mountainous areas and the Northeast region. It will then spread to the North Central Coast and parts of the Northwest and Central Coast regions. Winds on land are expected to shift to the northeast at levels 2-3, with coastal areas experiencing levels 3-4.

From the evening and night of 3/5, the Northeast and North Central Coast regions will turn cooler, with minimum temperatures generally ranging from 20-23 degrees Celsius. Some mountainous areas may see temperatures below 20 degrees, while the North Central Coast will be 21-24 degrees. During this cold spell, Ha Noi is forecast to have moderate rain and thunderstorms, with very heavy rain in some localized areas, and minimum temperatures of 21-23 degrees Celsius.
The meteorological agency warns that on 3/5, Northern Vietnam and Thanh Hoa will experience thunderstorms, with rainfall generally expected to be 20-40 mm and some areas exceeding 90 mm. From the afternoon of 3/5 to the morning of 4/5, the region from Nghe An to Hue will see scattered showers and thunderstorms, with localized heavy rain exceeding 50 mm.
During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts, posing risks of damage to trees, houses, and infrastructure. These conditions could also cause flash floods and landslides in mountainous areas, and inundation in low-lying regions.
At sea, from the evening and night of 3/5, the Gulf of Tonkin will experience increasingly strong northeast winds at levels 5-6, gusting to level 7, with waves 1,5-2,5 meters high and rough seas. From early morning 4/5, the northeastern part of the North East Sea will have northeast winds at level 6, gusting to levels 7-8, with waves 2-3 meters high and rough seas, impacting maritime activities.
