At 11h on 7/2, a bomb was discovered in Nguyen Van Viet's garden in Ang village, Tuong Duong commune. Identified as an MK82 model, the 250 kg bomb measures 140 cm long and 40 cm in diameter. Its rusty casing suggests it is a remnant from the war era.

The discovery site is in a residential area with many nearby households. For four days, authorities cordoned off the area, posted warning signs, and established checkpoints to isolate the hazardous zone, ensuring public safety.
On 11/2, the Tuong Duong Commune Military Command collaborated with military engineers from the Nghe An Provincial Military Command to bring the bomb to the surface. They deactivated its fuse and transported it over 15 km to Xieng Huong village for safe detonation.

During the war, Nghe An served as a strategic transit point for supply routes to the South, enduring thousands of bombing raids. Despite numerous clearance efforts, the province still contains dangerous unexploded ordnance.
