Around 12:00, driver Le Phuoc Lam, 39, from Lam Dong, was operating a 52-seater bus with a Ho Chi Minh City license plate, traveling from Dak Lak towards the city. As the bus navigated a curve in Son Tho village, Tho Son commune, it lost control and overturned into the roadside. Many passengers screamed, and locals assisted in breaking windows to help people escape.

The accident tragically claimed the life of Cap Hoang Thai, 20, from Lam Dong. Two other individuals sustained injuries and were promptly taken to the emergency room. The bus suffered extensive damage.
Local traffic police quickly arrived at the scene to manage traffic and initiate an investigation into the cause of the accident. Heavy rain and slippery road conditions were present in the area at the time of the incident.
National Highway 14, stretching 980 km, is Vietnam's second-longest national highway after National Highway 1. It begins at Dakrong Bridge in Quang Tri and concludes where it intersects national highway 13 in Chon Thanh town, formerly Binh Phuoc (now Dong Nai).
